Join us on a journey to uncover the secrets of the Sex Education filming locations in the UK, and find out exactly where Sex Education was filmed.
Moordale High
Many fans wonder, is Moordale a real place? While the fictional town of Moordale, England may not exist, the Sex Education school location is very much real.
The Sex Education set for Moordale Secondary School, also known as Cavendish College in later seasons, is actually made up of several Wales filming locations.
Caerleon Campus, USW
This campus for the University of South Wales is located in the Welsh town of Caerleon. It has been empty and disused since 2016.
However, it has now found a new lease of life as Moordale High in Sex Education. The exteriors and the hallways, as well as many of the classrooms, serve as the Sex Education filming locations for the character’s high school.
This is where the bulk of Sex Education is filmed.
Newport International Sports Village
A small journey away is the Newport International Sports Village. This serves as the filming location for the Sex Education school name of Moordale High’s swimming pool.
As it is open to the general public, visitors are actually able to go for a swim in the Moordale High swimming pool!
Cwmbran Stadium
Another location in Wales has served as a specific spot in the Moordale High campus. Cwmbran Stadium has also been used as the Moordale High running track.
This is also open to the public for those wanting to run in the footsteps of the Sex Education characters.
Paget Rooms, Penarth
Found in the Vale of Glamorgan, this old theatre serves as the Main Hall of Moordale High – the home to many an iconic scene in the show.
The rooms also currently serve as a multi-purpose hall hosting many events. So, while you may not just be able to stroll in, you could go here to see a show, attend a craft fair or any other event held in the Paget Rooms.
The Milburns’ House
Jean and Otis’ house is probably one of the most iconic locations in the entire show. The house used for this location is found in The Wye Valley – part of the Forest of Dean. This unusual house is called The Chalet.
The best news of all? You can go and stay in it! That’s right, the Milburns’ house is actually also a functioning B&B and makes for the perfect place to stay for any Sex Education fan.
Make sure to book well in advance, as it does get booked up quickly!

Otis and Eric’s Cycle Ride
The location of Otis and Eric’s cycle ride to and from school takes place over Tintern’s Wireworks Bridge, also known as the Duke of Beaufort Iron Bridge or simply the Sex Education bridge amongst fans.
This is also probably one of the most iconic locations in the show, as it is used repeatedly throughout. It is also used for scenes with Aimee and Maeve as they walk to and from Otis’ House.
Visiting here also allows for stunning views across Tintern. Sections of their ride to school also take place in the beautiful Forest of Dean.
The Corner Shop
Ola and Adam’s corner shop isn’t just a set, but another great location in Wales. Brown’s Village Store is based in Llandogo, Monmouthshire and serves as the filming location for this spot.
Having been run by the same owner since the 50s, this really is a classic old corner shop and can make for a lovely place for Sex Education fans to stop off in.
The Camping Trip
Otis and Eric’s unenjoyable camping trip in season two takes place in the Forest of Dean, near the town of Monmouth.
While it’s quite difficult to pinpoint which exact part of the forest it’s shot in, there are many enjoyable and beautiful locations throughout the forest you can visit and still feel the same atmosphere.
Not only that but Eric and Adam’s date was also shot in the Forest of Dean, as well as various journeys the characters make to and from school.
If you want to learn more about the Forest of Dean, go and check out my post on it here.
Military School
Another great Welsh location is the Mountainside Military School that Adam was sent to. This school is located at Margam Castle in Port Talbot.
This location is also one of the most impressive Sex Education filming locations in the UK.
An impressive and grand castle, surrounded by extensive and beautiful grounds, this one really is a must-visit for any fan.
Despite being less prominent in the show than some of the others on this list, it is definitely on of the best days out you can hope for.
Maeve’s Caravan
Maeve’s Caravan features in many of the episodes of Sex Education. It is located at the Southchester caravan park, which in real life is the Sterretts Caravan Park in Symonds Yat, Herefordshire.
This is another one of the locations you are able to stay at, so why not take a look and book up a caravan for an insight into the true Maeve Wiley experience?
It is located near many other locations on this list, making it the perfect place to stay for a Sex Education filming locations tour.
Maeve and Amiee’s Seafront Stroll
Maeve and Aimee’s seafront stroll took place along Penarth seafront in the Vale of Glamorgan.
This quaint Welsh seaside town makes for a lovely day out, with lots of shops and views across the ocean. This is also the location of the Paget Rooms – the location of the school’s main hall.
This means that you can combine the two locations and tick them off in quick succession.
Jackson and Cal’s Hangout Spot
The hangout spot for Jackson and Cal in season three that had the most amazing views was a spot at a place called Wintours Leap in the Wye Valley.
This is a notorious rock climbing spot and has some great walks. As you can see in the show, the views here are also second to none.
This is a beautiful Sex Education related spot to visit, and it is also near other locations in the show such as The Milburn’s House, Tintern Wireworks Bridge and Maeve’s caravan site.
St Fagans National History Museum
One standout new location is St Fagans National History Museum, which doubles as the fictional “St Fagans Sex Education Museum.” This open-air museum in Cardiff showcases Welsh history and culture, offering the perfect backdrop for the series’ eclectic charm. Its historic buildings and beautiful gardens provide a new layer of depth to the show’s aesthetic.
Newport Civic Centre
Another key location is the Newport Civic Centre, which takes on the role of Hamley Hospital in Season 4. The Civic Centre, with its striking art deco architecture, has become a staple of Welsh filming, adding a distinctive look to the hospital scenes.
Bigsweir House
Bigsweir House, a grand Georgian property situated on the Welsh-English border, serves as Old Farm House Mews. Its stately charm fits perfectly with the show’s timeless, yet contemporary vibe.
With these stunning new and returning locations, Sex Education Season 4 continues to elevate its visual storytelling, offering viewers more breathtaking landscapes to explore.
